Model
magic
4th
August 2008
It
has recently come to our attention that one of our East 2 girls Makaia
Carr has been leading a double life as a successful part time model. Not
one to let on it would have stayed a secret until her coach Moana let
it slip to the committee and sent on some great photos. We've put them
up on our club news page just to embarass Makaia further - they really
are good - so if you are looking for a model look no further than our
own club member Makaia Carr!

July 2008
New
Zealand Championships
Trials
were held at the Porirua Police College on 26-27 July for the two Wellington
teams to contest the New Zealand Championships. The New Zealand Championships
is the pinnacle of the national netball competitions and is played over
two grades, with the first grade being played in two divisions (top six
and bottom six from last year's results).
Wellington 1 is in the second division of first grade along with Canterbury
Tasman, Bay of Plenty, Eastern and Counties Manakau and will play these
games in weekends starting 6/7 September culminating in a finals tournament
in Rotorua on 2-4 October. Wellington 2 is in second grade which will
be played as a week-long tournament in Rotorua on 29 September-4 October.
A number of Wellington East players have been selected for these teams:

* Traditional Lady of the Carnival *
* 2008 Fashion in the Field Supreme Winner *
I'd like to send out a HUGE congratulations to our Club Captain
Sam Hannah for picking up another two awards in the Weekend at
the Annual Wellington Racing Club Fashion in the Field Event.
Sam outshone the competition and not only took out the
* Traditional Lady of the Carnival *, but also took out all
the winners and was named * 2008 Fashion in the
Field Supreme Winner *.
When
told as part of the prize she was to drive home in a stunning new 2008
BMW 335 Cabriolet convertible valued at over $100,000, courtesy of Jeff
Gray BMW, her comment was "how am I going to fit two kids in the
convertible!".
My comment to Sam was - "stuff the kids - how are you going to fit
the East Netball Committee in that convertible!"
Congratulations Sam - not only do Wellington East have the Best Premier
1 Team in Wellington; the best Netball Club in Wellington (Club Championship
Award) and the Wellington Club Administrator of the Year - but we also
have the best dressed Club Captain Fashion in the Field Supreme Winner!
Now Sam is off to Auckland to compete in the NZ Fashion in the Field in
early March. Not bad for a mum of two who entered on a whim :)
Always
knew you were a star Sam! Now if we can only get BMW to sponsor the club
and give all members a new BMW....

Premier
1 Champions!
CONGRATULATIONS
EAST RED IN BRINGING HOME THE PREMIER 1 CUP!
East
Red 47 - 36 PIC Black
Sam and I were one of the many East supporters watching this superb game,
unfortunately she's off to Aussie today so I'm sending this out on her
behalf. You girls lead from the charge and played with pride - there was
some fantastic netball to be seen last night! Although I must admit the
highlight of the night has to be the sneaking of the champagne into the
pub and drinking bubbles from the Prem 1 cup - all class ladies!
To all the supporters that turned up - what a great night - the girls
turned it on and was wonderful to see so many people out supporting our
club! I saw members from East Blue (how could we miss you!), East 3, 4,
5, 8, 10, 14 & 15... Sorry if I missed any teams that were there!
Lisa & Jo - you have proven to be a formidable combination
this year. Its been a long long road to bringing this cup back but you
have done it! All the time, effort and dedication put in has come to fruition.
Every member of this club shares in this success with you!
Bronwyn - you are a proven winner and have lead by example from
the beginning, and not only should you be justifiably proud of your own
standout performance this year, but that of your team. You have lead this
team to victory and again every member of this club shares in this teams
success.
Cush, Helen, Stacey, Ni'ia, Fran, Jimmy, Jo, Sarah & Deb. You
are one bunch of classy girls. It's been a tough season and you all have
given yourselves 100%. Congratulations - you deserve to be called the
best and we are proud to have you as representatives of Wellington East
Netball Club.
What a way to end a superb season - like Sam says - East Domination is
just beginning.

Bronwyn
Jones from io would like to introduce io Altitude Simulation to us at
Wellington East Netball Club.
"Whether we are serious athletes or weekend warriors we all want
to be the best that we can be on the netball court.
io
Altitude Simulation is a passive workout designed to rapidly strengthen
your body, keep you fit and well and offer relief from many conditions.
io benefits include:
Enhanced
recovery maintaining the players initial intensity and
speed for longer, allowing players to train and play harder for longer
Improved
mild and moderate Asthma enabling sufferers to play longer with
less interference from asthma and reliance on inhalers, breaking down
a common barrier to entering the netball scene
Maintenance
of fitness during injury allowing players to reenter the netball
season with motivation and at strength
Increase
mental ability players are able to maintain their concentration
on passes, shots and form even under duress
I
would like to offer ios services as a supporting business of Wellington

'Diehards'
Win Bronze at Wanganui Masters
Congratulations
to Robbie Herbison and her team the 'Diehards' (plus a few imports) for
taking Bronze Medals at the latest Masters Netball Competition held on
the 16th, 17th and 18th February in Wanganui. This is coming off a Gold
at the Hawkes Bay Masters held late last year!
Gossip
has it that although most of the team is over the 45yr mark, a couple
of girls aren't, so they had to play in the younger 35+ grade!!! But they
still showed them a thing or two taking away a Bronze placing. The Diehards
now hold 2 Bronze's and 1 Silver so looks like they will try for that
elusive Gold next time.
And
the winning team is.....

Top
(Left to Right)
Jo Waugh, Raylene Cummins, Kim Wotherspoon, Mary Haggie, Julia Roberts,
Deb Mills (NCOG), Lynley Worsley
Bottom
(Left to Right)
Eileen Doricott (NCOG), Robbie Herbison, Anne Robinson (NCOG), Jo Millet
(Umpire)
And
they went for.......Netball?
