2009 AGM Results

Wednesday 25th March 2009 - 6.o0pm
At WENC Clubrooms - Wellington Football Club, Hataitai Park, Ruahine Street, Hataitai

Main points from the AGM

Firstly a big thank you to everyone who made the effort to attend the AGM last night at our new associated members clubrooms the Wellington Football Club (now that's a mouthful). I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and will get over there throughout the season.

We had around 70 odd people attend which was fantastic - remember if you want a copy of the financials or any reports just drop us a line and we'll send you one.

Remember any questions just ASK!

We are officially the largest club in Wellington with a massive 23 teams!

If you hadn't guessed that's pretty exciting for us Last year we had 17 teams and have increased this year by 5. The numbers don't lie - it just shows that we are definitely the club to be with in 2009.

* Training Starts next week - 1st April!
We are still finalising the court allocations and times so don't panic if you don't know when or where you are training. We will have them up on the website in the next few days or early next week... All teams from East 3 downwards train on a Wednesday at the Hataitai Courts between the hours of 6 - 9pm (unless you have already indicated your team is not training). We have some space on a Thursday if any teams are keen to move to a Thursday training - just let us know if you want to do this!

* Fees - have been set at $170 for the season with a $20 uniform bond. Last year we were able to assimilate an increase by the Centre on registration fees and again this year we are able to maintain the fees at this level due the fantastic support of club members to all fundraising events last year. Well done all.

* Uniforms - if you didn't attend the AGM we will have uniforms available to collect at the first two trainings starting next Wednesday April 1st. You can pay your fees, uniform bond and any entertainment book money on this night as well. No uniform bond - no uniform.

* Tracksuits - it is with great pleasure that we can announce that in conjunction with the Four Kings we can provide all teams with tracksuits this year. All seniors will be receiving tracksuits when you pick up your tracksuits. East 2 - East 10 we are awaiting delivery of new tracksuits before handing them out to you. We should have them in the next few weeks.

* Coaches - we still need 3 coaches to coach teams - please see Kelly Newbold if you are interested in coaching.

* Senior Grading Tournament - Saturday April 18th ALL DAY. All Senior teams (East 11 - 23) will be required to play on Saturday the 18th April in the Centres Grading day - this is a tournament style day to confirm rankings for the start of Round 1. YOU NEED TO BE PLAYING ON THIS DAY.

* Entertainment Books - will be available to pick up from Friday 27th March. We will also have them at the first training next week to pick up - if you have already paid please show your receipt to the committee member.

Wellington East Netball Club Incorporated

Welcome to the start of 2009 and what again promises to be an exciting new year and season of netball with Wellington East Netball Club.

Wellington East's mission is to continue and nurture its emerging Club culture; as well as being focused on attracting and retaining Wellington's finest netball talent in the region. We pride ourselves in running a successful, organised club and are committed to delivering results to a standard of excellence that enhances not only the reputation of netball and the organisation; but also that of the club members. We support the development of players, coaches and umpires, as well as catering for women of all ages and abilites.

In 2008 Wellington East delivered on its promise and not only brought home the Premier 1 Trophy, but become one of the two largest Netball clubs in Wellington with 17 teams!

We also had a very successful year with nearly two thirds of the club either winning or placing in their grade, members being selected for reps and for us mere mortals we can't forget the successful club nights with lots of fun to be had.

In 2009 Wellington East aim to go bigger and do better than ever!

Who can join Wellington East?

The club welcomes adults to trial for places in teams from Senior 3 to Premier 1. All intending players must attend trials and the club will endeavour to place every triallist in a team. All team members are expected to attend practices once a week (or twice for Premier 1 grade, and possibly for the P2 top team).

About the Club

Wellington East Netball Club Inc (Wellington, New Zealand) was started by 'old girls' from Wellington East College over 60 years ago. Over the years the club has grown, and now has about 16 teams across the Senior and Premier grades. The club is fully open to anyone interested in playing netball.

This year we are back again with two teams in Premier 1 and two teams in Premier 2, with our top Premier One team being one of the inaugural teams in the national league until the change to franchise competition in 1998. Each year several of our top players achieve representative status in Wellington.

The President of the Club is Dale Wortman (MNZM), and Tania Lister is the Club Captain. The Club has an active, organised committee, and we welcome peple who want to be involved in sports administration and management.
